What our guests say…
‘We’ve had two great weeks at Quinta Roninho. The apartment is clean, spacious, and fully equipped. We frequently cooked our own meals, which was easy to do in the very complete kitchen. The living room provides a beautiful view of the Portuguese countryside with Montejunto hill in the distance. At 670 meters it is the highest point in the area. The large sun terrace provides a great private sitting area. In addition, it is possible to sit in the beautifully landscaped garden with its swimming pool.
Quinta Roninho is situated in an appealing, and — in the preseason period when we visited — a very peaceful area. There are several supermarkets and restaurants at a 15-minute driving distance. At an hour’s distance there are many varied sights to be seen. Beaches, natural areas, the medieval town of Obidos, or exciting Lisbon. The remarkable sculpture garden Bacalhoa Buddha Eden is about 10 minutes away, and is well worth a visit.
We visited in the early weeks of Spring, and we had some luck with the weather, so we spent a considerable amount of time enjoying the sun and peace on our own terrace with a good book.
Maarten and Elaine were always available and very helpful when we had questions. They have made a wonderful place for themselves and their guests in Portugal, and we will certainly return there at some point.’– Petra and Sidney (March 2019, translated from Dutch)
‘A lovely place in a great location, with great views! We have enjoyed Maarten and Elaine’s hospitality and the well-furnished apartment for one week. Everything was present, and even the fridge was filled upon our arrival! Nice pool with pleasant beds, and a beautifully landscaped garden with enough space for the kids to enjoy themselves. The apartments are located in a quiet village, from where you can easily explore the beautiful environment. Recommended!’ – Valkenburg Family (Juli 2018, translated from Dutch)
‘We had a wonderful relaxed stay in this beautiful, new, and spacious apartment with beautiful views. Owner Maarten and his wife put in every effort to give their guests a pleasant stay, including a delicious cooled wine that awaits you on your arrival! We were there with our college-going children, but even without kids (or with very young kids) it is a fine place. The village is very small, but a large supermarket, golf course, beaches, and Obidos are at a driving distance.’ Recommended!!’ – Peter (Juli 2018, translated from Dutch)
‘We were lucky with booking an apartment at Quinta Roninho. And what a pearl we had found in the costa da prata. We stayed one week in apartment Oporto. After our plane landed in Lisboa we contacted our host Maarten to confirm our somewhat delayed arrival. Because of the delay, he took the opportunity to inform if we needed anything for breakfast the next morning. When we arrived in the apartment, not only did we find our friendly host waiting to show us around, we also found our groceries for the next morning plus wine/beer and snacks to welcome us. The apartment was literally new, modern, tastefully decorated and furnished. Kitchen was well equipped so you can cook a decent meal if you want. The view over the valley was great. The swimming pool was clean and pleasant becaus of the slightly salt water. The village itself is quiet and within a strolling distance there is nothing of interest. We visted Caldas da Rainha, Obidos (15 minutes) and Peniche (25 minutes) more than once. In a distance of 3,5 km you can visit a wonderful parc Buddha Eden garden of peace. You look your eyes out by seeing so many art sculptures. At Peniche you can enjoy golf surfing. Maarten has shown to have a keen eye for detail, is very handy himself- could probably fix most inconveniences then and there- and is a very nice guy at the same time. We highly recommend this place.’ – Matthijs and Christine (August 2018)
‘We had a fantastic holiday! The apartments at Quinta Roninho are marvelous; completely furnished, tasteful, and very clean. We were there with our 16-month old son, in the upper apartment (Lisboa). Because he is currently taking his first steps, we were looking for a safe accomodation where he could play freely without the risk of falling from the stairs or into an open pool. And we found it! The little man could safely crawl around, and the well-fenced terrace provided a peace of mind outside as well. For the rest, everyhing was taken care of: a cot with aerosleep, a changing pillow, diaper bucket, children’s seat, and even a baby tub. Maarten was very hospitable, and we could ask for anything. No effort was spared to give us a great holiday. When we arrived the drinks were cold, during our stay the beds and the apartment were cleaned, and we got many sightseeing tips. We had a late flight in the afternoon, but Maarten arranged for our boy to have a nap in one of the apartments nonetheless. In short: we really enjoyed our holiday, thanks to the beautiful apartment and the generous hospitality! P.S., the saltwater swimming pool is very pleasant, especially for sensitive (children’s) skins.’ – Michel, Linda en Mees (August 2018, translated from Dutch)
